California Design

Inspiration for today, the California Design exhibition 1930-1965 at the Auckland Art Gallery.
Highlights for me were a wonderful screen and lamp by Greta Magnussan Grossman, a cocktail table of Milo Baughman pictured below (apparently THE crucial accessory of the home in the 1950s – I love the inbuilt plant holder!) and stunning architectural photographs  and graphic images of the mid century modern architecture movement.

Highlight for the kids…. the cafe…..

  1. A built-in plant holder: how fascinating! I would imagine it’s removable for watering? I love the monochromatic squares in the table too.

  2. I love the plant holder too – it would be great to have one of those in our house (i think it had a removable insert!) maybe I’ll have to get scott onto that in his next woodwork project….!

thoughts?
