Make mine green

This house reflects the passion of its owners to touch lightly on the earth. The owners believe in sustainability in every part of their lives – from their business of low emission hybrid vehicles to their renovation. They wanted ther home to reflect this. CCD Architects designed the home to be both modern AND green, from recycling materials where possible or donating them to a not for profit construction firm, and using salvaged and sustainably harvested timber in the new construction. Photovoltaic cells, super insulation and high efficiency appliances mean that they are actually producing more energy than they use.
I think this is a great example of how homes don’t need to ‘look’ green, but still respect the environment. Building is a great chance to look at how we live and how we want the future to be.
